Piec Stawow Polskich

This beautiful lakeside wooden shelter was opened by the Krzeptowski family - a famous Highland clan - back in 1954. It's in the famed 'Valley of the Five Lakes' although in fact there are more than five! It's a quiet yet sublime spot that's a key point of departure for mountaineers attempting the Orla Perca (The Eagles Range) - one of the most challenging stretches in the Tatry. The shelter is 1672 metres above sea-level, making it the highest shelter in the Zakopane range. There are about 100 places to sleep in the shelter, and a dining room and cafe offer hearty Polish refreshment. |
