Solidarity's iconic figure-head, Lech Walesa, has recently made public his desire for a democratized Belarus. Specifically, Walesa mentioned that a 'revolution' similar to last years upheaval in Ukraine, would be in the best interest of Belarus and its citizens.

Included in the statement was a desire for the European Union to welcome and support a reformed Belarus, but Walesa stressed that Belarus should expect nothing from the west, and that a reformed nation would be left to sink or swim on its own, just as Poland has been left to its own devices.

While comments such as these can only highten the recent tension between the two nations, if you consider Belarus to be a Domino about to fall, than these remarks are encouraging and could potentially further the cause of self determination in Belarus.
