Jimi Hendrix May Crown Town Square

Residents of the town of Dabrowa Gornicza in southern Poland are petitioning authorities to rename a square after legendary rocker Jimi Hendrix.

After the fall of communism twenty years ago, locals repainted a socialist monument and rededicated it to the guitarist. Now they want a permanent reminder.

If the plan is approved, it won't be the first time that a rocker has been honoured in Poland. Warsaw already has a street named after John Lennon, whilst Krakow boasts not only an Elvis Presley Avenue, but a full-blown statue of the King.
