Snake Surprises Granny in Western Poland

A two-metre-long anaconda took a Polish granny by surprise in Wroclaw this week when it turned up in her lavatory.

However, not to be flustered (the lady needed a proper night's sleep) she closed the lid of the loo and then called the police the following morning.

Thankfully, the reptile was successfully removed by the police with the help of a local vet, and the animal is now residing in the city's zoo.

The mystery remains as to how the South American snake managed to get into the sewage system. If the anaconda was a private pet, the owner could be sued for negligence, and could face three years in prison.
