Bear Shot After Mauling Incident

A bear was shot in the Tatra Park on Friday 7th, following two incidents over the last fortnight.

The first incident came when a lumberjack was mauled on the Slovakian side of the mountains on April 22. Five days later another man was injured in a similar incident. Shortly afterwards, the bear crossed the Polish border and attacked a horse.

Foresters have been attempting to track the animal ever since. In spite of the efforts of a faction of eco-protesters, permission was granted to exterminate the animal.

One notable concern is that it is hard to prove whether the hunters shot the right bear. An investigation is ongoing to determine whether the aggressive bear was indeed the one eliminated.
