Justyna Kowalczyk, Poland's hero of the Vancouver Games, has sold her lucky skis for the royal sum of 51,000 zloty. The benefits will go to a children's charity.

The 25 year-old, who won three medals at this years Olympics, including gold in the 30 km sprint, has been showered with adulation since her return to Poland.

The medallist sold her signed Fischer skis on the internet site Allegro. The beneficiary is the Children's Hospice in the seaside city of Szczeczin.

Kowalczyk, who won her gold in a tantalising photo finish with Norwegian Marit Bjoergen, has also joked that she was worried that she would get pelted with Norwegian tomatoes following her victory. Luckily though, the Norwegian fans proved entirely gracious in defeat.
