Unexpected snowfalls across Poland surprised locals in mid-October. As always, the Tatra mountains were the most heavily hit, with 20 centimetres by October 15th. Temperatures fell to minus seven.

There were 4 deaths across Poland, including one shepherd in the Highlands. Most were taken off-guard by the cold snap.

Power cuts across Poland affected about 90,000 households and road conditions were treacherous, leading to many accidents.

The situation is believed to improve in late October, before Winter begins in earnest.
