TV Star Arrested For Corruption

A popular TV celebrity who starred in hit TV show You can Dance - Po prostu tancz! has been arrested on charges of corruption.

Weronika Marczuk-Pazura, former wife of comedian Cezary Pazura, was allegedly caught in the act of receiving a cheque from the chairman of the Scientific and Technical Publishing House (WNT).

The TV star is suggested to have accepted a bribe of 100,000 euros in exchange for helping fix the purchase of a state-owned publishing house.

Mrs Marczuk-Pazura, born in Kiev, began her career in Poland as an exotic dancer, but soon blitzed her way into media circles.

If found guilty, she could face a term of up to eight years in prison. A special anti-corruption team had been working on the case for several months, and the final sting occurred at a fashionable Warsaw restaurant.

An anonymous informant set the investigation in motion.
