British MP Will Bike To Poland

Former Conservative MP Edwina Currie has had more than her fair share of thrills and spills, but her new venture should win her more friends than foes.

Long inspired by the Polish chemist Marie Curie, the former MP has decided to undertake a charity bicycle ride from Germany to Marie Curie's birthplace in Warsaw:

"Marie Curie was one of my childhood heroines and I even read chemistry at university to try to become like her."

She adds: "I have always enjoyed cycling and I persuaded the charity that it should have a long distance bike ride in Poland."

The former MP hopes to lead 500 hundred cyclists in the charity mission, with a prospected 1 million pound target for the Cancer charity. Her choice of this charity has a personal dimension, due to a tragic loss in her husband's family.

"Whether you are a competitive racer or a weekend cyclist, by signing up and being part of this event your pedal power could make a real difference to the lives of cancer patients and their family."
