Pope Plans Polish Trip

The Vatican envoy for papal tours Alberto Gasparri arrived in Poland today with the aim of touring the route of the planned visit by Pope Benedict XVI to that country at the end of May.

The likely date of the trip by Benedict to the home of his predecessor John Paul II is May 25 to 28. The pontiff plans to visit John Paul's birthplace in Wadowice and the city of Krakow, where he was bishop, as well as the capital Warsaw, the former German death camp of Auschwitz and the monastery town of Czestochowa.
