The FIS World Ski Jumping Cup

If you're searching for carnival atmosphere in the middle of winter you could hardly do better than zip over to Zakopane. The enthusiasm for jumping through the air with boards attached to your feet isn't just down to the fact that Poles are proud of their Winter capital. They also have a bona fide star. Meet Adam Malysz, better known as 'The Flying Moustache' or 'The Polish Batman'. At 30 years of age, Malysz is the first man ever to win the Skiing World Cup three years in a row. He made a blazing return to form last year, scooping gold yet again, and all eyes will be on Adam when the Cup returns to Zakopane this January. The FIS World Skiing Cup is traditionally a month long event that allows competitors to perform at skiing hotspots around the world. The event kicks off on 30th November at Kuusamo, Finland, running all the way through to 16th March, where the cup ends in Planica, Slovenia. By the time the event touches down in Poland, competition should be fierce, and you can expect a glorious atmosphere here in Zakopane. Will Mr Malyz be able to match the dizzy heights of last year's successes? Time will tell!
