Stek Chalupa

The aromas wafting out onto the Krupowki are advertisement enough for this traditional Highland restaurant. Once you catch a whiff of those sizzling steaks and fragrant herbs you are sure to develop an intense hunger, even if you haven't fully digested your breakfast. Stek Chalupa is a local kitchen in every sense of the word. Not only is the food authentic Goral fare, but the traditional decor and music give you a real Highland flavour - and you needn't wait for the ceremonious waitress service of the new world, go straight to the counter to odd your grub. The best way of doing things when you simply can't wait for that grilled sausage and sliced potatoes!

the mushroom soup is absolutely amazing, portions are huge, prices are great, went to zakopane for a week and always ended up having dinners in this place! and the service was great!

Had to eat on my own one night and had a great meal of pierogi with kapusta and grzyby (ravioli with cabbage and mushrooms) followed by cheese cake, had a bear and two coffees for 37zl (about £7 in total). It was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was great and accompanied by a quartet playing and singing local traditional music. Would highly recommend - even if you are a lone female and need to eat out.

Very nice restaurant that we visited twice whilst in Zakopane. Food was fab the pork loin and chicken with bacon was lovely. Customer service was good.

Well, several of my friends from poland, UK, and aussie, decided to spend new years at Stek Chalupa. For the price of nearly 1000 euros, the customer service was terrible, everything was like they were doing us a favor. And the food was so so. At four in the morning they wanted more money out of us because we brought new lady friends. I actually got into a brawl with the door man because of it literally. It left, a poor impression, of Poland, and Zakopane, although i felt the new years between us friends was one of the best. Next year i think we will leave Poland to someone else who is used to the lack of customer service, and common courtesy.

Me too! I was there just before Christmas and had a great meal - and the Zakopane Life map was really useful during my stay too. I hear they're working on a piste map right now as well, which was something Zakopane really needs. I wrote to Zakopane Life and they said it would be finished sometime in January...

Been there just today. Great ram's shaslik with top notch service. And, funny, I was given zakopane-life.com flyer with the bill. :)
