Fans of matching furniture, brightly coloured walls and bland prints are advised to stay well clear of this cafe-bar, which is perhaps best described as the antithesis of Starbucks. On the one hand round tables with red seats, enveloped in a dark mist of cigarette smoke, beg to be described as 'retro'; whilst fairy lights, christmas baubels, folksy wall-hangings and an ancient stove are actually the dictionary definition of 'kitsch' (check your Oxford edition). Throw in a few hip teenagers for that brash, defiant atmosphere and hey presto you've got the perfect place for an afternoon's coffee.
